Springing into a Floral Print Monokini

A San Lorenzo Floral Print Monokini

Like most women, I have my fair share of body insecurities.  I don’t love being seen in a swimsuit because I know last week, I skipped on two days of working out.  But in fashion, as in life, it’s all about being secure enough to step out of our comfort zone and try something new in hopes of achieving something better, of inspiring more beauty.  Especially here in Hawaii, women are so confident in their bikinis and I love it!  So that’s my motivation for today’s post, which is about my new favorite swimsuit and my first floral print monokini.

You may have seen a similar style from a show I styled last year–I loved how the suit elongated my model and decided to try the style myself!  I love the silhouette and how sophisticated it looks when paired with a structured jacket.  I know it’d look just as amazing with some cutoff shorts and sheer top.  So next time you’re ready to splurge on a new bikini, consider a monokini instead!

Beauty & Luxe: The Sullivan Estate and SPA Retreat

Written by , Posted in Hawaii

The Ultimate Oahu Getaway

A few weekends ago, I had the great fortune of visiting the luxurious Sullivan Estate and Spa Retreat, arguably THE premiere spa getaway on the island of Oahu loved by celebs and spa aficionados alike.  I have to admit that by the time I got to the estate, I had driven through most of Oahu and was already fairly relaxed.  However, after taking a tour of the tranquil grounds, I found myself completely zen just by being surrounded with such beauty. A view of the grounds.

The view from the yoga room.  On clear days, you can see the whales frolicking in the ocean!

I was welcomed warmly by the founders of the spa, Karin and Dr. Jurgen Klein, the founder of Jurlique.  They not only treated us with the most delicious vegan meal I’ve ever had, but also gave us an exclusive tour of their world renowned spa.

A delicious lunch!

The spa offers so much more than the usual spa treatments like massages and facials.  Dr. Klein believes in a holistic approach to well being, therefore the spa offers everything from a work out room, to yoga studio, to Ayurveda treatments, and more.  Of course, there’s also the JK7 spa, one of just three in the world!  This one of a kind spa experience involves floating in a pool equivalent in salinity to the Dead Sea while experience just one input per sense–you see one color, smell one scent, hear one track of music, etc.  This “help(s) you transform your body, mind and spirit by emptying them of the garbage that accumulates in your memories and sensory system and replacing it with a revived and rejuvenated body, mind and spirit that fosters balanced thoughts and feelings.”  Indeed! Sullivan Estate & Spa

The Kleins converted what were garages into individual treatment rooms for their spa treatments.  Brilliant!

The one of a kind JK7 spa.  The experience is 45 minutes of pure bliss and relaxation.

There is so much more to write about (including the amazing all natural JK7 products I’ve now been using and loving), but I think the point is that the Sullivan Estate is worth the drive and the one of a kind spa experience. Sullivan Estate & Spa, JK7 all natural beauty products

Dr. Klein doesn’t compromise on the quality of his ingredients.  Instead of chemical scents, he uses only all natural oils and substances in his all natural, high performance JK7 line.  You may think it’s pricey at first, but it’s for a good reason!  After all, why not invest in your skin and yourself?

Springtime in Peter Pilotto Prints

I’m obsessed with this sweater.  If you’ve seen me lately, I literally wear it all the time because great prints are so hard to come by.  There’s just something interesting and unique about this Peter Pilotto print sweatshirt that I’m innately drawn to.  It’s kind of like a beautiful, deliberate chaos (not unlike life, right?) and I love it!

For better or for worse, this adds to my growing collection of sweatshirts.  I’m personally a huge fan of the sweatshirt trend, so I’m hoping that it’ll continue for a couple more seasons!  In the meantime, I know sweatshirts also look great with shorts and even skirts, so I don’t plan on stashing my Pilotto sweater any time soon.

Shop a Lea @ Ala Moana Center

A Week of Fashion and Fun: Shop a Lea @ Ala Moana Center

This past week was Ala Moana’s annual Shop a Lea week, which kicked off with a fun Posh Pau Hana event!  There was an Urban Decay bar, where I tried out this new lip color called “Catfight” (see pic above).  It’s a fuchsia-y red and totally fierce!  There were also yummy drinks and appetizers catered by Macaroni Grill not to mention lots of giveaways by retailers in the mall…

My own role in the week of festivities was styling and producing the Uno de 50 fashion show.  You guys have probably already seen my previous post with Uno de 50 jewelry, so I won’t belabor how much I love the brand.  To celebrate/introduce their Jewels of the Mediterranean collection, I stuck with solid colors that reminded me of the ocean and bright Mediterranean climates.

Celebrating Hawaii Spring with a Floral Print Skirt

I know it’s hard to believe, but Hawaii actually does have a winter season where temps drop and we see significantly more rain.  Imagine my relief when there’s finally a day of bright sunshine!  To celebrate the (almost) arrival of spring, I’m donning my silk floral print dress and Rebecca Minkoff Elle handbag, two of my favorite items in my closet!

What I love most about floral print skirts is that if you find one with a truly great print, they never go out of style!  This one reminds me a little of aloha print and the prints just make me so happy and instantly energized.  What could be more perfect to ring in spring?!
